“I contacted Castle Health seeking guidance and options to support a relative who was having a difficult time both with addiction and other mental health concerns. The team were incredibly kind and informed, they took the time to go through all the options with me and helped us plan how to approach the matter. Fortunately the person has now been receiving care from CATCH for several months and is doing really well. A big thank you to the wonderful team! I would highly recommend this service.”

YOUR THERAPIST IN KENSINGTON

Meet José

José is a Counsellor and Psychotherapist at our Kensington addiction clinic. He has experience as an addiction therapist in Kensington and Chelsea. He holds an MSc in Counselling alongside specialist qualifications in Addiction Counselling. He’s worked in addiction and associated disorders since 2003, developing broad experience in treating compulsive behaviours, mental health conditions, and substance use disorders across one-to-one therapy and group work.

José has spent most of his career inside leading residential treatment settings, progressing from Counsellor through Senior Counsellor, Head Therapist, and Clinical Manager. In those roles, he’s led multidisciplinary clinical teams built for long-term recovery. This means he understands what sustainable recovery looks like and how it gets built, and he brings that perspective into every session.

As an integrative therapist, José draws on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT), Motivational Interviewing, Relapse Prevention, Psychodynamic Therapy, Systemic approaches, and Gestalt Therapy. In practice, that means he works with the whole of you, adapting his approach to what fits rather than applying one method to every situation. He also has experience supporting people with compulsive sexual behaviours alongside addiction work, and is fluent in English, Portuguese, French, and Spanish. Outside the clinic, he has a strong interest in community engagement, politics, and sport.
