Shirley Meade
“I understand that addiction often speaks through unconscious patterns, pain, and unmet needs. I offer a safe space, understanding and compassion to process these, to allow insight, healing and a deeper connection to support recovery after rehabilitation.”
Shirley is a fully accredited member of the BACP and an experienced integrative psychotherapist with a strong passion for addiction therapy, which began ten years ago as a student therapist.
Since then, Shirley has worked for various organisations that support individuals and their loved ones at various stages of recovery.
She works with adults, young people, couples and families, offering a compassionate, non-judgemental space to support lasting change.
Shirley brings a trauma-informed, relational approach to her work, with significant expertise in attachment and trauma. She supports individuals with a wide range of issues, drawing on a varied range of therapeutic models, tailored to meet each individual’s unique needs, to support navigating life after rehabilitation and sustain meaningful recovery.
Shirley Meade specialises in the following
Trauma therapy
A specialised form of psychotherapy designed to help individuals process and heal from distressing, life-threatening, or overwhelming events.
Couples therapy
A form of psychotherapy designed to help romantic partners resolve conflicts, improve communication, and rebuild emotional intimacy following addiction.
Autism and ADHD
Living with autism and ADHD can present a range of challenges that shape how you experience and interact with the world. Combined with addiction, these challenges can create a cyclical pattern, where each condition intensifies the effects of the other on both your physical and mental health.
