Paddy Kershaw - addiction therapist with Castle Health

Paddy Kershaw

Addiction Therapist, at United Kingdom

“I hold a Master’s Degree in Integrative Psychotherapy and have over 9 years’ experience supporting people from diverse backgrounds to recover from a range of chemical and behavioural addictions. I’ve worked with inpatients, outpatients, groups in primary and secondary treatment and the NHS. I’m also in long-term recovery myself.”

Being an Integrative Psychotherapist means Paddy can listen with a trained ear and draw from a number of different psychological viewpoints to help you understand and better negotiate your difficulties. Upholding an atmosphere of non-judgemental acceptance sits at the top of his list of priorities.

Over the past 9 years, Paddy has worked with inpatients, outpatients and groups in several prominent rehabilitation centres. Alongside private practice and work in treatment centres, he helps manage an NHS gambling service.

Paddy remains actively engaged with his own recovery. He believes deeply in the principles of the 12 Step Programme and incorporates this philosophy into his approach where appropriate.

Paddy Kershaw specialises in the following

Psychodynamic therapy

A depth-oriented "talking therapy" that focuses on uncovering how unconscious thoughts, past experiences, and early childhood relationships shape current emotions and behaviour.

Humanistic therapy

A holistic, client-led form of psychotherapy that focuses on your unique potential for personal growth and self-actualisation, rather than just treating symptoms.

Existential therapy

A philosophically driven, client-centred psychotherapy that focuses on finding meaning, purpose, and authentic living by addressing universal human challenges.

12 Step facilitation

Twelve-Step Facilitation (TSF) treatments are a set of semi-structured therapies designed to help people abstain from alcohol and other drugs by systematically linking them to, and encouraging their active participation in, community-based 12-step.
