Ken Crosland
Ken Crosland has worked extensively in mental health and addictions for 15 years, and his own journey in recovery started almost 30 years ago. Currently, as well as his work with Castle Health, he has his own Private Practice, seeing clients in Richmond Upon Thames and online. Ken is registered with the BACP and subscribes to their ethical framework.
He has considerable experience dealing with a variety of addictions – sex, porn, internet, alcohol, substance and gambling – but also works with many other issues, including for example anxiety, depression, stress, loss, abandonment, betrayal, loss of purpose, work/life balance and relationship issues.
Prior to becoming a therapist, Ken’s career was within the Events and Hospitality sectors. Alongside his therapy work, he developed an addiction awareness initiative that was adopted by industry charity Hospitality Action, and for 10 years Ken delivered addiction training in many of the leading UK employers from Claridges, Dorchester and Savoy to Gordon Ramsay Restaurants, Fat Duck Group and Soho House.
As an Integrative Therapist, Ken draws on a range of knowledge and skills from different approaches, particularly Psychodynamic, Person-Centred and CBT, and is also trauma and attachment informed. He works creatively in the present to examine feelings, thoughts and behaviours, as well as looking back to family and relationships to see where unhelpful patterns may have originated.
His own experience of therapy helped him to know himself better. His aim for clients is to provide a safe and empathic environment where they find understanding of where problems originate, process the feelings experienced as they acquire this understanding and begin to heal and move forward in life, with greater confidence and resourcefulness.
