Fiona Duhig

Addiction Therapist, at United Kingdom

Fiona is an experienced, approachable psychotherapist specialising in addiction and trauma; she understands the emotional complexities of addiction and supports clients and their families to find positive lasting solutions with non-judgmental compassion and care.

Fiona uses Human Given psychotherapy, an approach which focuses on our emotional needs as human beings and draws on some of the best elements of approaches such as person-centred therapy, CBT, NLP, ACT, trauma-informed and solution-focused therapy. She is also trained in the use of the Rewind Technique for trauma/PTSD, motivational interviewing and a range of somatic, breathing & relaxation techniques, including guided imagery.

Fiona has worked within the substance misuse sector for a number of years and more recently with military veterans who have complex needs. Sessions are held gently with empathy, supporting clients on their recovery journey, providing a forum to express and process emotional distress, explore practical approaches, leaving them feeling listened to, optimistic and determined.

Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT)

Your therapist works with you in individual sessions to help you identify and change negative thinking patterns.

Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT)

Is a form of behavioural and mindfulness-based therapy that helps individuals accept difficult thoughts and emotions rather than fighting them. The core goal is to build "psychological flexibility" and commit to actions that align with your personal values.

Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy – often called "talk therapy" – is a collaborative treatment where you work with a trained mental health professional to identify and change troubling emotions, thoughts, and behaviours.

Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP)

Is an approach to personal development, communication, and coaching that explores how our brains interpret sensory information (neuro), how we use language to organise our thoughts (linguistic), and how we can reprogram our automatic behavioural habits (programming) to achieve specific life goals.
