Dr Peter McCann, MBBS, MSc, MRCPsych, is Medical Director of Castle Craig and a Consultant Psychiatrist specialising in addictions. He has clinical experience in both the United Kingdom and the United States, with a background spanning psychiatry, addiction medicine, and internal medicine.
Dr McCann studied Medicine at King’s College London, where he also completed a Master of Science in Neuroscience with Distinction. He undertook foundation training in the South Thames Deanery, including posts at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals, before working as a Senior House Officer in the Hepatology Unit at St George’s Hospital, London.
He then moved to the United States, where he completed residency training in combined Internal Medicine and Psychiatry at Duke University Hospital in North Carolina. During his final year, he served as a Chief Resident in Internal Medicine-Psychiatry. He has also worked as a locum Consultant Psychiatrist for NHS Lothian in Edinburgh.
Dr McCann is on the GMC Specialist Register for General Psychiatry in the UK and is Board-certified in both General Psychiatry and Internal Medicine in the United States. He is recognised by major Health insurance providers including Bupa, AVIVA, Allianz, WPA and Vitality.
