Peter & Margaret McCann found the Life Anew Trust and opened Clouds House.

Castle Craig is founded
Castle Craig was the first residential rehab clinic to be opened in Scotland. It also became the most accessible clinic for people of the North of England.

Recovery Tartan
The Lochcarron weave of February 1998, with its darker outer blue tramlines, was designed by Peter McCann and registered with the Scottish Tartans Authority (now the Scottish Register of Tartans) in October 2001.

Castle Craig Nederlands
Frances Beek and Peter McCann founded the Dutch clinic: Castle Craig Netherlands. At that time, no 12-step treatment was available in the Netherlands. After a visit to the Scottish clinic, Frances was convinced that the Netherlands also needed this.

Teletherapy launched
With demand for digital services rising, teletherapy was launched at Castle Craig for aftercare.

Smarmore Castle clinic opens
A country house with a 14th-century tower was renovated to create an impressive environment dedicated to treating people in Ireland and the wider EU with alcohol and drug addiction. The inpatient clinic, based in County Louth, Republic of Ireland, features 22 beds, a large leisure and fitness centre and 15 acres of grounds.

Catch Recovery is founded
With Castle Craig and Smarmore Castle only focusing on inpatient addiction treatment, the McCann family decided to go a step further in helping people with addiction and launched the Catch Recovery (now Castle Health) outpatient addiction services.

Stockholm's Beroendekliniken is founded
Beroendeklinik was founded in early 2021. It was established by Castle Health to offer comprehensive, private outpatient care for alcohol, drug, and behavioural addictions in Sweden.

Lifetime Achievement Award
Peter McCann, then Chairman of Castle Craig and Smarmore Castle, received a Lifetime Achievement Award at the UKESAD Conference in 2023. Forty-five years ago, he embarked on his illustrious journey to bring medically-managed 12 Step residential rehab to the UK.
