Colleen Kelly, Addiction Therapist at Castle Health

Colleen Kelly

Addiction, Family & Couples Therapist, Castle Health

“In 33 years of sobriety and over 30 years as a clinician, I’ve learned that recovery isn’t about giving something up. It’s about putting down the substance, grieving, then creating a meaningful life that you no longer want to escape.”

Colleen Kelly (PhD, MFT), is a California-licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with a doctorate in Transcendental Philosophy. She is an international speaker and clinical consultant with over 30 years of experience in addiction treatment, family systems, and couples therapy. With 33 years of personal recovery, she brings both professional expertise and lived experience to her work with individuals, couples, and families affected by addiction.

Colleen specialises in high-conflict couples, complex family dynamics, intervention support, and helping loved ones navigate the challenges of addiction. In addition to her clinical work, Colleen is involved with an AI-based device company and an innovative mental health technology company with an office at the Dundalk Institute of Technology. Her expertise is in using EMDR, attachment work, family systems, evidence-based approaches to trauma, and positive psychology. She is based in Paris, France so works with clients internationally via telehealth.

Committed to mental health advocacy, Colleen has worked on American Indian reservations for many years and with Palestinian, Syrian, and North African refugee populations, providing therapy and human rights support. She lectures internationally on addiction, trauma, family systems, and transgenerational grief, and maintains offices in Paris, London, Dundalk, New York City, and California.
