Inpatient rehab in the Netherlands
Castle Health provides Intensive Treatment Unit (IBU) care in partnership with Safehouse De Toekomst. During this form of intensive treatment, patients will live in a shared house while receiving therapy from our Castle Craig clinical team. Alongside therapeutic treatment, staff at the safehouse guide residents to form daily routines, offering practical recovery support for life after treatment.
If a higher level of care is recommended, we can arrange referral to residential treatment at Castle Craig Hospital in Scotland or Smarmore Castle in Ireland. Our inpatient centres provide detox and full-time therapeutic care in a live-in setting, allowing you to focus fully on recovery.
After residential treatment, you can return to our Netherlands rehab service for outpatient follow-on care, so support for all the addictions we treat continues once you return to everyday life.

Outpatient rehab in the Netherlands
Castle Health’s Netherlands rehab service offers outpatient rehab treatment without full-time admission, so you can stay at home while attending regular therapy sessions at one of our centres. Appointments are often weekly, but can be more frequent depending on your needs.
Groups are kept small, with a maximum of 12 people, and some groups are offered in English. There’s also a weekly online support group for people on the waiting list.
If required, the team can refer you to a detox clinic in the Netherlands where withdrawal is supervised by a doctor or nurse specialist. After detox, care then continues through outpatient appointments, with individual therapy, group therapy, and online treatment to support your ongoing recovery.
Online rehab in the Netherlands
Our online rehab in the Netherlands is available through our e-health programme. Treatment can take place partly or fully online, using secure video sessions and digital modules, so you can begin therapy without travelling to a clinic. Many people use this when work, distance, privacy, or health make regular appointments difficult, or as a first step before attending in person.
You still work individually with a therapist and join group sessions remotely. Our online platform gives you access to recovery exercises, psycho-education, and direct messaging with your clinician between appointments. After treatment, you can continue to use the system for support and recovery tools for up to a year.
If you’re unsure how to approach a conversation about starting rehab treatment in the Netherlands, you can read our guidance on interventions for addiction, which explains how families can raise concerns to their loved ones in a planned, supportive way.
